Middletown Police continue search for newborn son and mother

- By Liz Hardaway

MIDDLETOWN — A mother and her 3-week-old son are still missing, police said Monday afternoon.

Brigette Wood, 32, and her son, Zion Gonzalez, were reported missing May 6. They were last seen near Eastern Drive in Middletown around 3 p.m. that day.

Middletown Police Lt. Brian Hubbs said they are treating the disappearance as a “well-being check on someone who voluntarily left the residence and doesn’t want to be located.”

Hubbs added that there is currently no issue with Wood having her son, and there is no information to suggest Zion is in danger.

Officials said Sunday that they believe Wood and her son to be in the Hartford area.

Police described Wood as 5 feet, 2 inches tall and weighing 140 pounds. She has sandy-colored hair and brown eyes, police said.

Zion was born on April 16. Police described him as one foot tall and weighing about five pounds.

The case remains active as of Monday afternoon. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Zion Gonzalez or Brigette Wood is asked to contact the Middletown Police Department at 860-347-6941.
