NEW HAVEN — Tweed New Haven Airport Authority Executive Director Sean Scanlon, endorsed as the state Democratic Party’s candidate for state comptroller, will remain in both his airport position and his elected position as a state representative until at least the November election, he said Thursday.

Scanlon represents Guilford and Branford in the General Assembly. He also serves as the House chairman of the Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee.

With regard to the Tweed job, “The board is comfortable with me doing this job by day,” Scanlon said.

“Obviously, I may take a leave of absence as things progress,” he said.

Authority Chairman John Picard said he’s fine with the arrangement.

“I am good with it,” Picard said. “We’ve had the discussion. I know that Sean can do the job well. And you know, you never know what’s going to happen in an election.”

With regard to his legislative position, “My term expires in January,” said Scanlon. “I’m certainly planning to serve out the rest of my term as state representative, and depending what happens in the November election will determine what happens at Tweed,” he said.

Scanlon, a resident of Guilford, currently is serving his fourth term as a state representative. In addition to serving as House chairman of the Finance Committee, he is a member of the Public Health committee.
