Insurrection probe
Ahh, irony.
The Jan. 6 committee has conducted over 1,000 interviews and received some 100,000 pages of documents during its ongoing investigation.
The committee now appears to be the verge of deciding whether to ask former President Donald Trump and former Vice President Mike Pence to speak to it.
Would it be ironic if Mr. Trump’s appearance would have him defending actions he took (or failed to take) on and before January 6, events witnessed and testified about by many close to him, rather than for him to provide new details about yet unreported actions?
Likewise Mr. Pence, who seems to have been an outsider on January 6, a victim of Mr. Trump and the insurrectionists. He may have minimal before-the-fact knowledge of the insurrection, but by testifying he may be able to demonstrate that he was serving our Constitution and so clear his name.
