Irma Chesanek Tremblay passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, October 19th, 2022, at the age of 96. Irma has been reunited in heaven with her beloved husband of 72 years Raymond M. Tremblay.

Irma was born on December 5th,1925, to the late Michael and Catherine (Pesta) Chesanek and grew up in a large family in New Britain, CT where she attended St. Mary’s school. Irma is predecease­d by her sisters Helen Davis and Mary Ruimerman and brothers Andrew Chesanek, Edward Chesanek, George Chesanek, Francis Chesanek and Joseph Chesanek.

Irma is survived by her three children George Tremblay and his wife Holly of Willington; Raymond W. Tremblay of Middletown; and Carol Roy and her husband Bill of Middletown; six grandchild­ren Cindy, Mat, Michelle, Michael, Jenny and Chris; 16 great-grandchild­ren; God daughter Kathy McPherson and numerous nieces and nephews.

Irma worked at Fafnir’s in New Britain and later she met Raymond at a dance after he returned from WWII, a story he loved to tell. Irma and Raymond were married on May 29th, 1948, they settled down in Middletown to raise 3 beautiful red headed children. Irma and Raymond enjoyed traveling, camping, country music, and square dancing. Irma had a strong devotion to the Virgin Mary and Pope John Paul II. She was a dedicated member of the VFW auxiliary Post #583 and served in various positions including President. Whenever she had the chance Irma loved building puzzles, reading, watching Shirley Temple movies, and playing solitaire, which she taught to all her grandchild­ren.

Irma’s favorite thing was spending time with her family. She loved summer picnics and hosting Holiday dinners, especially Christmas Eve dinner. Raymond and Irma were long time members of St. John Church in Middletown and will be greatly missed by their parish.

Irma’s family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Pilgrim Manor, at Covenant Living of Cromwell, for all their wonderful care and compassion.
