Joan Davis-Clark, 75, of Madison, passed away peacefully in Madison at the Hearth at Tuxis Pond on November 25, 2022. Born on February 8, 1947 in Beaver, Pennsylvan­ia, Joan was the daughter of the late Henry Sulser and Jeanne (Witherow) Sulser. Joan graduated from Beaver Area High School in 1964. She then went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from Penn State in Speech and Communicat­ions, where she was a proud member of Tri Delta Sorority. Joan worked as a substitute teacher in the Madison School System and then went on to be the Real Estate Manager at Coldwell Banker Realtors in Madison for over 30 years. She married the love of her life, Ronald C. Clark on July 31, 1999.

A Madison resident for almost 50 years, Joan was very active in her community. She was very involved in the Women’s Junior League, the Madison Chamber of Commerce, Toys for Tots and other charitable causes. She was as a former member of the Madison Country Club and also former Director and President of the Shoreline Board of Realtors.

Joan’s passions and hobbies included spending days at the beach, Yorkshire

Terriers, playing bridge, needlepoin­t, residentia­l real estate and of course, clothes shopping.

Joan will be greatly missed by her husband, Ron, as well as her two children Christophe­r Davis (wife Pam) of Pittsburgh, PA and Heidi Dirkmaat (husband Jay) of Glen Ellyn, IL. Joan is also survived by her grandchild­ren Tyler Davis, Nora Davis, John Dirkmaat, and Ashley Dirkmaat, Joan’s brother Henry “Chip” Sulser (wife Diane) of Natick, MA, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Calling Hours will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2023 from 9am until 11am at Swan Funeral Home in Madison. A memorial service will immediatel­y follow calling hours at 11am.

Donations can be made to the charities of one’s choice.
