Jeannette Allen Coe, 79, of New Haven, departed this life peacefully on November 23, 2022 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on November 9, 1943 in Philadelph­ia, PA to George and Etta Allen. She was affectiona­tely known as “Mama Coe” to all who loved her. She came to Greater New Haven as a child and attended the North Haven Public School System and graduated from North Haven High School. She retired from the State of Connecticu­t, Department of Mental Health after twenty-five years of faithful service. Jeannette was a faithful member of Saint Matthew’s Unison Freewill Baptist Church for over forty years. She served as a Missionary and sang with the Senior Choir.

Jeannette leaves to cherish her precious memories, five sons, William S. Rogers, Jr., Michael B. Rogers (Sylvia), Richard A. Rogers, Michael (Scoop) Spell, and Bobby Edwards, all of CT; two daughters, Pinkie McBurrows, of CT, and Vanita Sykes, of NC; sisters, Marianne Curtis and Margaret Maynard; and brother, Robert McBurrows, all of CT; three grandchild­ren; eleven great-grandchild­ren; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and an abundance of friends.

She was predecease­d by her husband of forty-seven years, Robert Coe; biological parents, George and Etta Allen; adoptive parents, William and Essie Vason; and her sister, Betty Grant.

A celebratio­n of her life will take place Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at 11:00 AM at New Antioch Church of God, 65 Burban Dr, Branford, CT 06405. Friends may call Tuesday at the church from 10:00 – 11:00 AM. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, New Haven. Services by Howard K. Hill Funeral Services, 1287 Chapel St, New Haven, CT 06511.
