Mary E. McKeon, age 84, a long-term resident of Hamden, passed away on Saturday, November 19th. She is survived by her brothers, John McKeon and Paul McKeon (Linda), and sister, Lucie McKeon Bohannon (Richard) and her treasured nieces and nephews; Erin McKeon, Ryan McKeon, Suzanne Killian, Richard Killian, Jr, Michael Killian, Stephanie Bohannon, Thomas Eastwood IV, and Margaret Eastwood. Mary is also survived by her precious collie, Sandy. Mary was predecease­d by her sisters, Madeline Killian and Kate Eastwood. Mary graduated summa cum laude from St Francis College (Loretto, PA) with degrees in economics and philosophy. She worked in the insurance industry as a claims adjuster and later as a regional manager until her retirement. Throughout her lifetime she was a devoted dog lover and had a special affinity for the collie breed. She was dedicated to raising and caring for her collies and enjoyed attending dog shows throughout the northeast. Mary was the family historian for the McKeon and Riordan relatives. Her extended family treasured her knowledge with detailed memories of stories and relationsh­ips throughout generation­s. Our special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Yale New Haven Hospital who provided excellent care and kindness to Mary and her family during this time. We would also like to thank the staff at Connecticu­t Hospice in Branford for their compassion and care in her final days. Her family is eternally grateful. Mary was a longtime communican­t at St. Rita’s Parish and a celebratio­n of her life will be at St. Rita’s church at 1620 Whitney Ave. Hamden on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at 10:00 AM. Friends are asked to go directly to church. Family and friends may call at Sisk Brothers Funeral Home at 3105 Whitney Ave. Hamden on Monday, December 5, 2022 from 4-6PM. Burial services will be private.
