Paul McCartney to discuss his new book at Yale this month
Famed Beatles singer Paul McCartney is coming to Yale to discuss his newest book.
“The Lyrics: Paul McCartney in Conversation” will be held at Yale’s Woolsey Hall from 7- 8:30 p.m. on Feb. 16. McCartney will talk about his new book “The Lyrics: 1956 to the Present” in “unparalleled candor,” The Yale Schwarzman Center’s website stated. Pulitzer Prizewinning poet Paul Muldoon and Yale English Professor Langdon Hammer will join McCartney in the discussion.
In the book, McCartney discusses elements of his life and career “through the prism” of 154 of his songs.
“The Lyrics encompasses McCartney’s earliest boyhood compositions through the legendary decade of The Beatles, to Wings and his solo albums to the present,” The Yale Schwarzman Center’s website stated. “Presented with this is a treasure trove of never-seenbefore material from McCartney’s personal archive – drafts, letters, photographs.”
A high public demand for tickets caused Yale Connect, Yale’s ticketing system, to shut down on Feb. 8, but a new date and time for public sales will be set “soon.”
Though most famous for his time as a Beatle, McCartney has also had a successful solo career. In 2015, he collaborated with Rihanna and Kanye West on the song “FourFiveSeconds” and performed with Paul Simon during the Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary Special. McCartney’s 2018 song “Who Cares” was inspired by singer Taylor Swift, he said during an interview with the BBC.
“I was actually thinking about Taylor Swift and her relationship to her young fans and how it’s sort of a sisterly thing,” McCartney told the BBC in 2018.
In 2022, he released The 7” Singles Box Set, showcasing his music through the decades.
