Rae Ellen Siebel of Bound Brook, NJ passed away on February 2, 2023 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital after an extended illness with family and friends at her bedside. Born on June 5, 1946 in New Haven, CT, she was the wife of the late William Siebel and daughter of the late Raymond J. and Mary (Walsh) Lee.

Rae received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administra­tion from the University of New Haven graduating summa cum laude. Following graduation she worked at various branches of AT&T for more than three decades and as a district manager in later years.

Rae was actively involved in the community of Bound Brook serving for several years on both the boards of education and the borough council. Rae was passionate about politics having grown up in a family with deep roots in local political culture. Rae also had a soft spot in her heart for companion animals. She rescued both dogs and cats over the years caring passionate­ly for them in her home.

In later years Rae developed a strong appreciati­on for the addictive properties of tobacco use and their devastatin­g consequenc­es. As a result, she became a staunch advocate of smoking cessation initiative­s at local and national levels.

Rae was beloved sister of Nancy Wilson; aunt to Graham Wilson (wife Jennifer and children Meredith and Spencer Fox) and Abigail Newton (daughter Thomas); stepdaught­er to Carol Lee; and friend of many. In addition to family and friends Rae is survived by her dog Chewie and cat Richie.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 18th at Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton Street, Somerset, NJ with visitation from 1:00pm – 2:00pm and memorial service at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, contributi­ons may be made to St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center, 575 Woodland Avenue, Madison, NJ 07940.
