Charles C. Brancati of Hamden and most recently of Branford entered into rest February 17, 2023. He was the beloved husband of 61 years to the late Rosemarie (Santoro) Brancati. Charles was born in New Haven on January 10, 1923, son of the late Saverio Brancati and Maria (Gargiulo) Brancati.

He is survived by his beloved daughters, Diana Brancati and Anne BrancatiBa­rthelemy (Alain). He is also survived by his granddaugh­ters Victoria, Alexandra and Elisabeth Barthelemy who he lovingly referred to as “Charlie’s Angels.” He was predecease­d by his sisters Mary, Rose and Theresa Brancati, Loretta Crisco, and his brothers Thomas, Peter, Salvatore and Louis Brancati.

After graduation from Commercial High School in 1940, Charles was discharged from the Navy in 1946, after serving in World War II in the Philippine­s on USS LST-225. He was an Operations Manager at Adley Express, which later became Yellow Freight until his retirement in 1988.

A devoted husband, father and grandfathe­r, Charles loved nothing more than preparing large family meals, and his tomato sauce was legendary. An avid sports fan, Charles ardently supported UCONN Women’s

Basketball, the St. Louis Cardinals and the Green Bay Packers.

His family thanks the staff in the SICU at St. Raphael’s Campus of Yale New Haven Hospital for their enduring love and care in his final days.

Visiting hours will be held Tuesday morning from 9:00-10:30 in the Iovanne Funeral Home, Inc. 11 Wooster Place in New Haven. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Michael Church at 11:00. Burial with military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
