Elba I. Pepitone

-

Elba Iris Pepitone, our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, 93 years of age, from Cromwell, CT, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, February 17, 2023. She was the heart and soul of her family. Everyone who met her, loved her. Always smiling and giving her love unconditionally. Ellie, as her family and friends called her, was born in Barceloneta, Puerto Rico on January 31, 1930 to Daniela and Ramon Salort. She lived in Puerto Rico until she was 19 years old. After her 1st year of college, at 19, by herself, she traveled to New York City to visit family and for a bigger, better life. It was there that she met her husband of 72 years, Joseph M. Pepitone. They started their marriage in Brooklyn, New York and then relocated to North Babylon (LI), New York before moving their family to Madison, Connecticut in 1969. Ellie and Joe had four children and Ellie’s life revolved around her family. Cooking and loving her family was her happiness in life. She worked by her husband’s side in their jewelry business for many years, and later in life worked at Aetna Insurance Company for the Agent Orange Team, then retired and worked with her family at Suburban Physical Therapy. Ellie was always good with numbers and bookkeeping, she loved her hallmark romance movies, playing solitaire, playing card games and dominos, watching her Spanish Telenovelas, cooking, and most of all being with her family. She always loved a good party and, of course, her vodka tonics. She also loved and adored her grandchildren and was always in attendance at their sporting events, graduations and birthday parties. She was forever willing to lend a helping hand, cook trays of lasagna or rearrange someone’s closet. She was fond of her visits to Lake

George and Lake Pocotopaug and the multiple family gatherings at the Lakes. We will cherish our memories of her always and she will forever be in our hearts. Rest in peace our dearest Ellie (mommy, grandma and nana). We will miss you every day of our lives. Ellie is survived by her husband, Joseph M. Pepitone and children, Denise Sweeney (Tom), Jo-Ann Quinn (Darren), Joseph Pepitone Jr. (Christine), and her daughter-in-law, Silvana Pepitone; and she is predeceased by her son, Salvatore Pepitone. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren, Cara Benham ( Jeffrey), Sean Sweeney (Kristin), Darren Quinn, Jr., Ryan Quinn, Julia Pepitone, Kerriann Quinn, Victoria Pepitone, Joseph Pepitone, and Sofia Pepitone, and her brother James Salort (Bertha) and multiple nieces and nephews. Ellie was blessed with her loving, beautiful friend and caretaker Caroll, whom she loved and relied on. At the request of Ellie, no Wake will be held. A Memorial Mass to celebrate her life and love will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at Saint Pius X Catholic Church, 310 Westfield St, Middletown, CT 06457. In lieu of flowers, a donation in the memory of Ellie Pepitone can be sent payable to the Cromwell Senior Center, 41 West St., Cromwell, CT 06416.
