Joseph Anthony Sansone, 76, of New Haven, entered into eternal rest on Monday February 20th, 2023 at Yale New Haven Hospital.

Joe ‘JoeBat’ was born on Wooster Street in New Haven, son of the late Thomas Sansone and Clara Salperto Sansone. He leaves behind his children: Joseph A Sansone Jr, Nicole Sansone, Eva Sansone Sankey, Naomi Gabriel, David Gabriel; son-in-law, Brant Sankey; and granddaugh­ter, ‘the apple of his eye and his mother’s namesake’, Clara Marie Sankey; his brother and best friend, Thomas Sansone Jr, wife Ilona, their sons Tom and Michael, their wives, and children; as well as many, many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Benjamin Gabriel.

Joe was a lifelong member of the Wooster Street community, member of the St. Andrews Society, graduate of St. Michaels School and Notre Dame High School. He spent many years in theatre, on the stages of New Haven; worked at Consiglio’s Florist, Unger Floors and finally settled into the Auto Industry as a salesman and manager. He retired from working due to his health in the early 2000s and returned to living in Wooster Square.

He will always be remembered for his talent, his kindness, his humor, his blue eyes, his dedication to the NY Yankees, his love of Doo Wop, his respect of the old-school, his smooth dance moves, his fashion, and his fierce protection of those he loved.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebratio­n of Life Memorial on Saturday, April 29th at 3:00pm at the St. Andrew Society, 515 Chapel St., New Haven, CT 06511.
