John “Scott” O’Hara, 62, passed away accidental­ly at home in West Haven on February 16, 2023.

Scott was the cherished son of his devoted mother Ann Johnson. He is survived by his brother Chris; sister Laurel; stepsister­s Laura Bickford-Johnson (Art); Tracy Johnson (Owen); stepbrothe­rs Steve Johnson (Michelle); Greg Levan (Karen); nephew Jake O’Hara and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was predecease­d by his father Wally O’Hara; stepfather Stan Johnson; and stepbrothe­r Stanley Johnson, Jr.

Scott attended Notre Dame High School in West Haven and Milford Academy. He previously resided at Harbor House in Branford and worked at Assoc. of Artisans to Cane in New Haven.

Scott had an unparallel­ed love for playing tennis and listening to music (especially the Beatles). He was an avid ping pong and chess player and and collector of stamps, coins and bottles. The illness of schizophre­nia never prevented him from excelling and pursuing any of his passions.

Oak Beach was his favorite place to be in the summer where he loved riding the surf, boating, and fishing.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on March 8th at 10:00 am at St John Vianney Church of St John XXII Parish, 300 Captain Thomas Blvd., West Haven. Burial will be private.

The family extends special gratitude to Harbor House and Milford Indoor Tennis for their years of care and support.
