Gladys F. Lenart, age 81, of Killingwor­th, entered into eternal rest on March 6, 2023 at Yale New Haven Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Peter Joseph Lenart. She was born on November 9, 1941, in Derby, daughter of the late Andrew and Mary (Sotek) Krupa (Cooper). Gladys started her career as an administra­tive assistant for Sikorsky Aircraft, also for Pratt Reed but was known for her career as a bus driver for the HaddamKill­ingworth School District until her retirement. Loving people post-retirement, she continued driving a shuttle for Cedar Island Marina until 2020. She was known to be an entertaini­ng presence for the children and left a smile on many parents and children’s faces when she opened the school bus doors and people saw her in the driver’s seat. Gladys was an avid softball player when she was younger, loved watching “Wheel of Fortune” and “Jeopardy”, rug hooking, volunteeri­ng in the kitchen at St. Lawrence Church and was a member of the Polish Falcons of America Nests 36, 208 and 519. Her most favorite joy in life was spending time with her family. Gladys is survived by her son, Joseph Lenart, her favorite person in the whole world-her granddaugh­ter Chase Lenart, sister Mary Ann Brozak ( Joe), and a huge extended family of cousins, nieces, nephews and sisters-in-law whom she loved dearly. She was predecease­d by her brother Edward Krupa and sister Leona Costello. Friends may greet the family on Monday, March 13, 2023 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth Street, Derby. On Tuesday, her funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:30 am for her Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. Michael’s Church, 75 Derby Ave., Derby. Burial will follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery, 28 Silver Hill Road, Ansonia. Online condolence­s may be left for the family at www.adzimafh. com.
