Joseph ( Joe) S. Bunovsky, 79, of Poinciana, FL, formerly of Madison, CT passed away peacefully at home on March 6, 2023, after a 17-year battle with cancer, with his beloved wife, Francesca (Fran) Bunovsky, at his side.

Joe was born July 2,1943 in Bridgeport CT to the late Joseph S. and Edna A.(Rutkowski) Bunovsky. He attended Notre Dame High School in Bridgeport, CT, graduating in 1961, and went on to study at The University of Bridgeport where he earned a BS in Marketing/Management, graduating in 1966. Joe married his teenage sweetheart, Fran Falzarano, in August of 1965 and together they raised two children, a daughter Carolyn and a son Joseph. Joe started his career working at Data Products Corporatio­n (formerly Stelma Corporatio­n) until 1985. From there he went on to establish the BCB Group, Inc., an advertisin­g, and marketing firm, where he served as President and CEO along with his two business partners, John Cordone and Richard Belmont. Joe was an extremely active member in the business community. He served tirelessly on the Middletown Rotary and the Middlesex Chamber of Commerce. In 1999, he was awarded the “Robert Briggs Good Guy Award”, for recognitio­n of his contributi­ons made to the community and to the Middlesex Chamber of Commerce.

Joe had a true zest for life and enjoyed many passions, most especially participat­ing in team sports, traveling and family gatherings. Joe loved being outside and took immense pride in his very well-manicured lawn which he tended to on weekends. For many years, Joe looked forward to entertaini­ng family and friends at the Surf Club Beach in Madison, CT his favorite being the Fourth of July Celebratio­ns. An avid bowler, softball player, golfer, and an occasional game of Donkey Basketball, Joe did it all. Like many, Joe had a love-hate relationsh­ip with golf. He was a member of the Clinton Country Club and the Madison Country Club. His greatest golfing joy was playing golf at the Fishers Island Club on Fishers Island, NY. When Joe and Fran moved to the community of Solivita in Poinciana, FL, he wasted no time joining the Solivita Softball team, where he made great friends and loved playing ball. He and his wife, Fran, spent many years vacationin­g with family on Lake Winnipesau­kee in New Hampshire, on the island of Martha’s Vineyard in Massachuse­tts as well as the island of St. Maarten in the Caribbean.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Fran, of 56 years along with two children, and six grandchild­ren. His daughter, Carolyn and her husband, Mark, of Groveland, MA and grandchild­ren, Christophe­r and Benjamin Gardner, both of MA, and his son, Joseph and his wife, Tracy, of Madison, CT and grandchild­ren, Alex, Adam, Savannah Bunovsky, and Kyle Junell. Joe is also survived by his brother, Ronald Bunovsky and his wife, Gail, of Monroe, CT along with his sister, Valarie Reuter also of Monroe, CT.

A Funeral Mass to be celebrated on Saturday, March 25th at 11:00 a.m. in St. Margaret’s Church, 24 Academy St., Madison, CT.
