Police: Hebron woman fled stop
‘Danger to motorists’ faces multiple charges
BOZRAH — A woman driving recklessly on a state highway fled when a trooper attempted to pull her over, according to the Connecticut State Police.
Lori Lanagan, 47, of Hebron, was charged with interfering with police, engaging police in pursuit, failure to comply with fingerprint requirements, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and other motor vehicle offenses, state police said.
Several people called 911 Saturday evening to report a Jeep Wrangler traveling erratically on Route 2 eastbound near Exit 11 in Glastonbury, according to state police. Callers described the Jeep as a “danger to motorists,” state police said.
A state trooper located the vehicle in the area of Exit 23 in Bozrah around 5:35 p.m. Saturday, according to police. When the trooper tried to conduct a motor vehicle stop, state police said, the Jeep continued traveling, sparking a pursuit that continued for approximately 5 miles.
Roughly 10 minutes after the pursuit was “terminated in the interest of safety” on Interstate 395 southbound in Norwich, the Mohegan Tribal Police reported that a license plate reader camera recorded the Jeep’s plates in the Mohegan Sun casino’s Riverview Garage, according to state police. Responding troopers and tribal officers located the Jeep and identified Lanagan as the driver, state police said.
State police said Lanagan exhibited signs of possible impairment, refused to cooperate with authorities and physically resisted arrest.
Lanagan was held on a $100,000 bond and detained at York Correctional Institution in Niantic pending arraignment, according to state police. She was scheduled to be arraigned Monday at state Superior Court in Norwich.
