Thomas A. Turck, Sr.
On Tuesday, March 14, 2023, Thomas A. Turck, Sr., loving husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully at the age of 85.
Tom was born on December 20, 1937, in Deer Park, Ohio, to the late George and Marietta Turck. He went to the University of Cincinnati and worked as a packaging engineer for 23 years at Procter and Gamble. Tom also worked for Meridian Diagnostics before retiring. On February 17, 1962, he married Judy Turck (née Lankford). They raised two children, Thomas Turck, Jr., and Alison Sroka (née Turck).
Tom loved nature was an avid conservationist. He was a proud member of several conservation groups in Cincinnati including Green Acres and the Sir Isaac Walton League. He also started his own conservation group called Lakes and Ponds. When Tom moved to Connecticut, he was an active member of conservation groups through Lake Pocotopaug. Tom also enjoyed volunteering in civic organizations including the Montgomery Kiawan’s and the Loveland Players.
Tom was an active member of the Ohio National Guard. He also enjoyed spending time in his workshop, building bird houses, feeders, and trinkets for his grandchildren.
Besides his wife Judy, Tom is survived by his children, Tom Jr. and Alison; daughter-in-law Jennifer Magrone of Malden, MA; son-in-law Xenos Sroka of Portland, CT; two sisters: Gloria D’Andrea and Mary Albrecht, both of Ohio; four grandchildren: Hannah Sroka, Haley Sroka, Matilda Turck, and Liamm Turck. Tom was predeceased by two sisters, Joan Flour and Donna Grimes, and two brothers, George Turck, Jr., and John Turck. Tom also had numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were privately held. Those who wish may send memorial contributions to their conservation charity of choice. There will be a memorial luncheon held on April 1, 2023, from 11:30 AM to 2 PM at the Village of South Farms, 645 Saybrook Road, Middletown, CT.
