Day pays tribute to the United States military personnel who gave their lives in service to the country.
To honor the federal holiday on May 29, cities and towns across the state will host Memorial Day parades and celebrations.
Some businesses and services across the state will close or remain open.
Here is what is closed on Memorial Day 2023:
Mail services
The United States Postal Services (USPS) offices will be closed to observe Memorial Day.
UPS stores will be closed, and there will be no pickup or delivery services, according to its website.
Most of FedEx’s shipping services will be halted for the day, but some offices will be open with modified hours, according to the schedule on its website.
Banks
Most banks, including Bank of America, Chase,
TD Bank and Wells Fargo will be closed on Memorial Day.
Public libraries
Public libraries across the state and country will be closed.
Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles
The Connecticut Department of Motor VehiMemorial cles offices around the state are normally closed on Mondays, but to recognize the holiday, they will close early on Friday and remain closed all of Saturday.
Government buildings and courts
Most local town halls and offices, as well as nonessential federal offices, will be closed during the holiday. Courts throughout the state will also be closed.
