Sneaker convention steps into Mohegan Sun on June 4
Sneaker lovers all over the state can check out their favorite brands at the Sneakerhead Invasion convention at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville on June 4.
The convention will take place at Mohegan Sun’s Earth Expo & Convention Center from noon to 5 p.m. Guests will be allowed to bring up to three pairs of sneakers to sell and trade, with VIPticket purchasers able to bring an unlimited amount. Those attending will also have the chance to buy brands like Nike, Jordan sneakers, Yeezy, New Balance and more.
“Hosting a large-scale sneaker convention is something we have wanted to add to the calendar for our Expo Center for some time, and we’re so happy to have the Urban Collab bringing their amazing 1-day Sneakerhead Invasion event to Mohegan Sun later this spring,” said Kevin Barosso, director of convention and sales for Mohegan Sun.
Over 200 vendors will be at the convention offering streetwear, collectable items, pins and more for sale, according to Eventbrite. There will also be raffles and giveaways. DJ A. Will will perform at the event and “special guests” are set to attend, according to Eventbrite. In addition, a live tattoo booth and barber bus will be available. This is not the first time the Sneakerhead Invasion has stopped in Connecticut. Last year, the event was hosted at the XL Center in Hartford.
The sneaker and streetwear world has been expanding in Connecticut with the opening of The Sneaker Mansion in Bridgeport, Portal in Uncasville, Xclusive Cops and Soleply in Norwalk in the past two years.
General admission tickets are on sale for $30, and high school students can show their school ID to buy tickets for $15. VIP tickets are available for $40 with being able to bring “as many sneakers one can carry,” according to the news release. Children 10 and under can enter free with a guardian.
