Jacqueline Julia Roxas

-

Jacqueline Julia Roxas, born in Sicily, Italy, January 8, 1930, passed peacefully into spirit April 6, 2023, at the age of 93. Known to family and friends as Jackie, she is survived by her daughter Diana and son Fred Roxas, with his wife Susan and children Julia and Robert. She is also survived by her sister Guilia and Letizia, her niece, and family in Sicily. She was able to have a last reunion with them and friends in 2019.

Her husband, Ignatius F. Roxas, was a WWII veteran, predeceased her by 6 years at age 93. They met after the war when his family visited their hometown in Sicily.

Jackie came to America as a young bride in 1947. Then stayed a short time in the New Haven area, and moved to raise a family in Orange, CT. Then moving to North Palm Beach, FL in 1963, retiring in Palm Beach Gardens, FL in 1996.

Julia and Robert were the apple of Nonni’s eye. She would cook their favorite dishes and taught them to make homemade pasta and treats. One year, she dressed up like mother goose for Halloween, sitting in a chair on the front lawn with a large book, with her natural white hair, delighted many who came by.

Jackie was a life learner in everything she did. Going to college with her daughter to get her degree. She was well versed in Italian family history. She was a devoted mother of her generation that did it all, she cooked, knitted, sewed, did painting and jewelry making, gardening and enjoyed her opera. She enjoyed sharing her life experiences with all she knew.

We love you mom, and will miss you greatly. Rest in peace and light with your heavenly family.
