Girls soccer top performers

Here are the top performances in CIAC girls soccer the past week:

Katherine Arichavala, Wilcox Tech, Sr.:

Had four goals and an assist in Wilcox Tech’s 6-2 win over Wolcott Tech.

Stacey Casorla, Sheehan, Jr.: Had a hat trick in the Titans’ 9-0 win over Career/Hillhouse.

Natalie Chudowsky, Staples, Soph.: Had a goal and two assists in the Wreckers’ 5-1 win over Stamford.

Carly Commune, Cheshire, Soph.: Recorded a hat trick in the Rams; 6-0 victory over Wilbur Cross.

Besiana Dauti, Watertown, Jr.: Had a hat trick in Watertown’s 7-0 win over Naugatuck.

Abbey Egan, St. Bernard, Soph.:Scored the game’s only goal with fewer than 3 minutes left in regulation in the Saints’ victory over Montville.

Tess Ferrie, Branford, Sr.:

Had three goals and two assists in Branford’s 7-0 win over Hamden. Scored the lone goal for Branford in a 2-1 loss to Sacred Heart Academy.

Taylor Freimuth, Terryville, Soph.: Posted four goals in Terryville’s 9-0 victory against Wamogo.

Tea Gambardella, Guilford, Jr.:

Had a hat trick in Guilford’s 6-0 win over East Haven.

Swathi Ganesh, East Hartford, Sr.: Had a hat trick in a 6-0 win over New Britain.

Rowan Garr, Northwestern, Sr.:

Scored all three goals in Northwestern’s 3-1 victory over Litchfield. Garr also had a hat trick in an 8-0 win over Shepaug Valley.

Michaela Gasparri, Woodland, Jr.:

Scored twice Wolcott (3-1 win) and added a goal against Torrington (5-1 win).

Hailey Goldman, Nonnewaug, Soph:

Her hat trick led Nonnewaug past Housatonic 7-2.

Ellie Goldstein, Hall, Sr.: Scored her 100th career goal in Hall’s 6-1 win over

Avon.

Cameryn Hickey, Cromwell, Sr.:

Posted a hat trick in the Panthers’ 4-3 loss to Somers.

Eve Marin, Amity, Fr.: Scored a pair of goals in the Spartans’ 5-0 win over Law.

Audrey Palmer, Bacon Academy, Jr.:

Scored the only goal in the second half in Bacon Academy’s 1-0 win over Waterford. It was the first goal Waterford allowed this season.

Katie Pierce, Wheeler, Sr.: Center-midfielder scored four goals in Wheeler’s 6-1 win over New London.

Bella Salina, Berlin, Soph.: Had a free-kick goal and helped preserve the shutout in a 2-0 victory over E.O. Smith.

Ava Segalla, Housatonic Regional, Soph.: Her hat trick helped Housatonic defeat Litchfield 5-2.

Simsbury defense: Able to shut out Glastonbury, the reigning CCC champions, 2-0. According to Simsbury coach Steve Jarvis, it is the Trojans’ first victory over Glastonbury in more than two decades.

Caroline Spengler, Fairfield Ludlowe Sr.:

Midfielder had two goals and two assists in a 5-1 victory at Westhill. Also had two assists in a 3-1 win at McMahon. Victoria Sturm, Waterford,

Jr.: Goalkeeper posted a 5-0 shutout of Ledyard, her fourth on the season in five games.

Julia Wright, Ansonia, Sr.: Had a hat trick in the Chargers’ 6-0 win over Torrington.

Angela Zandri, Wilcox Tech, Sr.:

Had three goals and an assist in Wilcox Tech’s 4-1 win over Platt Tech.

Hannah Zuklie, Thomaston, Sr.:Scored

four goals in Thomaston’s 10-0 victory over Gilbert.

Games to watch

St. Joseph at Fairfield Ludlowe, Tuesday, Sept. 26, 7 p.m.:

Ludlowe was the last team to beat St. Joseph on Sept. 23, 2022. Both teams come in undefeated. St. Joseph’s unbeaten streak is at 23 games.. St. Joseph is the reigning FCIAC champion.

Cheshire at Hand, Friday, Sept. 29, 6 p.m.:

Both teams come into this week with one loss — both against Mercy. Should be a fun atmosphere at the Surf Club.

Hand at Guilford, Monday, Oct. 2, 5 p.m.:

Guilford has won four straight games since a 3-2 loss to Hand in the season opener. Key game in positioning for the SCC tournament.
