Maria N. Aresco

Maria N. Aresco (DiMauro), 85, passed away on January 19, 2024, at Hartford Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Mary was born on April 1st, 1938, in Melilli, Sicily, to Sebastian and Rosaria DiMauro. The family immigrated to the United States when she was eleven and it was here that she met the love of her life. Mary and Antonio Aresco were married on April 25, 1959, and had sixty-four beautiful years together.

She worked at Raymond Engineering until her retirement, after which she spent her time caring for her family and bringing joy to us all. She loved cooking and baking, reading, and watching her soaps and Westerns. Mary loved doing word searches to keep her mind sharp and teaching her grandchildren card games, like penny poker and King’s Corner.

Mary is survived by her husband, Antonio, and their three children, Carmelo (Kelly), Sally (Eric), and Sebastian; her nine grandchildren, Angela (Rich), Antonio ( Jin), Stephanie, Kate (Chris), Salvatore, Matthew, Maria (Oscar), Annamaria, and Benjamin; and her six great-grandsons, Louie, Sebastian, Christopher, Samuel, Caleb, and Isaiah.

She is also survived by her brother, Louis (Rosemary) DiMauro and her sister, Lucille (Tim) Paulus and many nieces and nephews.

There are no words to truly express how much our Mom was loved, or how much she will be missed.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, January 25th at 9 a.m. from the Lastrina Family Funeral Home, 491 High St., Middletown, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Sebastian’s Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Sebastian’s Cemetery, Middlefield. Friends may call at the funeral on Wednesday, January 24th from 5-7 p.m.
