Trump knows that immigration is a fatal weakness for Dems
To better understand politics today, we need to amend James Carville’s famous line, “It is the economy, stupid.” No, this time James, “It is NOT the economy, stupid.” “It is millions of illegal immigrants flooding our country.”
It is our open border policy, sanctuary cities, and the invasion in just three years of more than 8 million illegal immigrants, the equivalent population of New York City, a population increase our government can’t begin to manage, and our cities cannot begin to afford.
The failure of the Biden Administration, and Democratic-elected officials to realize this fact, after obvious confirming data, is breathtaking. Alarmingly, their blindness to this issue alone could re-elect Donald Trump to the White House, despite the plethora of reasons that make Trump clearly unfit to ever again be our president and commander-in-chief of our great nation.
Yes, Trump and the so-called MAGA Republicans, realize illegal immigration is an “Achilles heel,” a fatal weakness for the Democrats. It is the very reason why they are determined to let the immigration crisis fester for 12 more months, regardless of the continued harm it may cause our country.
It is the very reason why Republicans ultimately opposed a thoughtfully written compromise immigration bill, authored by Connecticut’s own Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy, and Republican Sen. James Lankford, and Independent
This time “It is not the economy.” It is the Biden Administration’s failure to close our open borders, restrict sanctuary cities, and significantly reduce the number of illegal immigrants entering our country.
Sen. Kyrsten Sinema. A compromise bill most Republicans in the House and Senate were originally planning and expected to support.
After Donald Trump’s intervention, Republicans sought to invent reasons to justify opposing a compromise bill they had requested, ultimately claiming it did not do enough to stem the tide of illegal immigration. Opponents on the other end of the political spectrum, in spite of ultimately willing to support the compromise, felt it was too restrictive, all of which is a fairly good indication the compromise bill had merit.
Yes, the 2008 Global Economic Crisis’ impact on our economy was a terrible end to the George W. Bush presidency, and my service in Congress as well, and a huge opportunity for Barack Obama to become the 44th President of the United States. Clearly back then, James Carville was right, the condition of the economy was very relevant. But that was then, not now.
Now, President Biden’s response as soon as he took office resulted in encouraging, rather than discouraging, the daily onslaught of thousands upon thousands of illegal immigrants, who were then released throughout the country, with no administrative oversight. This, coupled with Democratic sanctuary cities, further incentivizing the onslaught of more people, than we could manage or afford, is an anathema to the vast majority of Americans, who are clearly opposed to what is happening along our borders.
No James, not this time. This time “It is not the economy.” It is the Biden Administration’s failure to close our open borders, restrict sanctuary cities, and significantly reduce the number of illegal immigrants entering our country.
The sooner the Biden Administration realizes, “It is millions of illegal immigrants flooding our country, and not the economy,” that is likely to determine the outcome of this fall’s presidential election. And the sooner, if ever, it actually gets a handle on illegal immigration, with or without the advantage of the compromise immigration bill, the better for our country, and the administration’s own survival.
