Bea was born in New Haven November 23, 1921, a daughter of the late Stanley and Sophie Stanczak Ciak and was a graduate of the former Boardman Trade and Stone College schools. She worked in accounting and clerical functions at Winchester Repeating, stockbrokerages, S&H Green Stamps, and CT Savings Bank and also worked as a caterer with her sisters for a number of years. Survivors include her sons, Russell C., William C. and Richard C. Hahn. She was predeceased by brothers, Stanley and Theodore Ciak, and her sisters, Helen Butler, Janina ( Jane) Lorence, Frances Fletcher and Sophie Wunderlee. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, friends and neighbors, many of whom were instrumental in helping her to live at home until a few days ago. Her close friend and niece, Beverly Booze of Hamden was key in this effort. Bea maintained large flower and vegetable gardens, canning and freezing provisions for her family and won numerous ribbons in the North Haven Fair, especially for her dill pickles and sauerkraut. As a neighbor once said, “when you walk into Bea’s kitchen, she makes you feel as if you are the most important person in the world”. She was a member of the Taddeus Koszcziuszko Society, a Cub Scout Den Mother, world traveler, astute Pinochle player, unbeatable at Scrabble, a prolific knitter and crocheter, and seldom was without an active crossword puzzle.
