George J. Caruso of Branford died Thursday, February 22, 2024. He was the husband of late Joan Ann Caruso, his loving bride of nearly 67 years. George was born and raised in New Haven in the Hill Section. After marriage he and his family lived in Hollywood, FL for several years before moving back to Branford, CT. He had worked as a Teacher and Administrator in the New Haven Public School system for 50 years prior to retiring. He is survived by his children, Jacquie (Michael) DePalma of Spanish Fort, AL, Mary C. Harrington of Branford and Mark C. Caruso (Richard Sean Avery) of North Truro, MA; his grandchildren, Kenneth A. “Kage” (Dana) Harrington, Christopher M. (Beth) DePalma, Joseph J. (Melissa) Harrington, Nicole J. (Tommy) Farrow and Amaris J. (Vitor) Seiber; and her great-grandchildren, Taelyn, Lincoln, Maverick, Harper, Matthew, Cooper and Joao Bennett. Other than his wife Joan Ann Caruso, he was predeceased by his grandson Nicholas DePalma (son of Jacquie and Michael) and five brothers and sister. George’s love for his late wife, Joan, was a timeless melody that echoed through the years, their bond strengthened by shared moments on the dance floor and an enduring commitment to one another. Together, they waltzed through life, their love story an inspiration to all who knew them. As a father, George’s influence knew no bounds. His love and guidance shaped the lives of his son and two daughters, inspiring them to follow in his noble footsteps and pursue careers as educators. Through his example, George instilled in them a passion for teaching and a commitment to making a difference in the lives of others. The joy of George’s life was found in the laughter and love of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Their presence brought light to his days and warmth to his heart. Yet, above all else, George was a man of profound faith, a steadfast disciple of Jesus Christ whose unwavering devotion illuminated every aspect of his life. His faith was not merely a part of his existence; it was the cornerstone upon which he built his legacy of love and service. As we mourn his passing, we take solace in knowing that he is reunited with his beloved Joan, dancing once more in the embrace of eternal love and standing in the presence of his Lord and Savior. A private celebration of life will be held for family and close friends for both George and Joan Caruso at a date to follow.
