George Andrew Fleming III, age 78, died peacefully on February 21, 2024, at the Village at Mariner’s Point in East Haven, CT. He was born June 22, 1945, in Hartford, CT, the son of George Andrew Fleming, Jr. and Miriam Cook Fleming. He was a longtime resident of the Borough of Woodmont in Milford, CT, where he lived with his loving wife of 36 years, Dr. Mary Jo Kramer.

George graduated from East Hartford High School in 1963 and went on to graduate from the University of Hartford in Business Administra­tion, ultimately serving as the Internatio­nal Director of Sales at Jacob’s Manufactur­ing in Bloomfield, CT. George was a proud veteran of the United States Coast Guard, where he spent 13 years as a reservist who served as coxswain in Search and Rescue. In his later years, he earned a Coast Guard 100-ton Masters’ License and worked as a yacht broker. In addition to his passion for boating, George was a profession­al saxophonis­t, masterful baker, ecotourist, and animal lover who had a witty sense of humor and could fix anything. He loved his family above all, and with his a gentle, kind, considerat­e spirit, he was loved by his friends and caretakers alike.

George was predecease­d by a daughter, Melissa Beth McGee. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Jo Kramer of Milford, CT, his daughter Jessica Duers, son Geoffrey Fleming, sister Valerie Lewis, and seven grandchild­ren: Alexander Schuler, Victoria Schuler, Caroline Duers, Elizabeth Duers, Aspen Fleming, Amelia Fleming, and Eva Fleming.

A service of remembranc­e will be held in his honor on Saturday, March 9, 2024, 10:00 a.m. at the First United Church of Christ, 34 West Main Street, Milford, CT. Condolence­s can also be expressed prior to the service, beginning at 9:00 a.m. There will be a reception following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Sound School in New Haven, CT, or Athena Hospice in Farmington, CT.
