Mary Jane Hines Roy, 87, of West Haven, CT passed peacefully on March 8, 2024. She was predeceased by her husband, Roger O. Roy, of 60 years. Mary Jane was born in New Haven, CT, on June 24, 1936, the daughter of the late Harry S. and Margaret (Callahan) Hines. Mary Jane was a parishioner of St. Louis Church. She was a graduate of West Haven High School and worked with her husband at their family-owned business, Connecticut Discount Auto Parts, for over 40 years. She was an avid Red Sox, UConn Husky and Wheel of Fortune fan who did not like to lose at Scrabble.

She will be greatly missed by her three children, Gena Giza and her husband Eddie of West Haven, Dennis Roy and his wife Liz of Milford, and Judy Anania and her husband Claudio of West Haven, and her eight grandchildren, Edward “Chuck” Giza ( Julianna Monjeau), Justin Giza (Carla Emanuele), Marilisa Anania, Brianna Anania Keenan (Sean), Matthew Anania (Sarah), David Anania, Jesse Roy (Lisa) and Cody Roy, Her brother, George “Butch” Hines, sister, Rosemary and Ed Petrosemolo, Ann Hines and many nieces and nephews who visited her frequently and brought her happiness. Mary Jane was predeceased by her brothers James, Jerry, Harry, Larry, Richard, Robert, Bill and her sister, Peggy.

The family would like to thank her caretaker, Lawrenda, and the staff of the Connecticut Hospice and Maplewood for their excellent care and friendship.

The hours of visitation will be on Tuesday, March 12 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green, 662 Savin Avenue, West Haven, CT. The procession will leave the funeral home at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 13. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in the Church of Saint Louis, 89 Bull Hill Lane, West Haven, CT. Interment will follow at All Saint’s Cemetery, 700 Middletown Avenue, North Haven, CT.
