Daniel Paul Russo (Dan) of Middletown, CT, passed away on February 19th, 2024. Dan was the loving husband of Judith Celia Hample Russo ( Judy) who predecease­d him in 2018. Dan and his wife, Judy, were devoted to each other for 30 years.

Dan was born to the late Dr. Joseph N. Russo II and Rosemary (Thayer) Russo in Hartford, CT and grew up in the Bloomfield, Hartford and West Hartford, CT areas, while later residing in Middletown since 1989. The Russo family also spent summers on Cape Cod in Osterville, MA.

Dan is survived by his brother, Frank T. Russo. His brothers, Nicholas J. Russo II, passed away in 2006, and Joseph N. Russo III, passed away in 2017. While Dan and Judy had no children of their own, they were supporting, loving and ever-present as uncle and aunt to his nieces and nephews over the years.

Dan graduated from the following academic institutio­ns, The Loomis School (1969) in Windsor, CT; Trinity College (1973) in Hartford, CT with a BA in History and later a Graduate Fellowship in History; Suffolk University School of Law with a J.D. (1978) in Boston, MA; Boston University School of Law in Boston, MA; LL.M. Taxation, (1987); The American College, Bryn Mawr, PA MSM, Master of Science in Management, (2003); MSFS, Master of Science in Financial Services, (2003).

Early in his career, he worked as an attorney in

Washington for the U.S. House of Representa­tives Ways and Means Committee on the Committee profession­al staff, working with taxation issues, legislatio­n and Committee matters at the Full Committee and Sub Committee levels and with Members from both sides of the aisle. Subsequent­ly, he held corporate legal positions for over 20 years, in addition to 20 years in the financial services industry. For several years, he also consulted non-profit organizati­ons and was involved with political service to the City of Middletown for several decades, including as Chairman of the Middletown Democratic Town Committee and Chairman of the Middletown Planning and Zoning Committee.

The family wishes to thank the Doctors, nurses and staff at Hartford Hospital and Pilgrim Manor Care Center at Covenant Village in Cromwell, CT. They would also like to express their gratitude to family and friends for their support.

Family and friends may call on Wednesday, March 27th, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Doolittle Funeral Home, 14 Old Church Street, Middletown.
