Malware disrupts newspaper presses across US

The Modesto Bee (Sunday) - - News -

A computer virus hit newspaper printing plants in Los Angeles and at newspapers across the country, preventing the printing and delivery of Saturday editions of the Los Angeles Times, the San Diego Union-Tribune and other papers to some subscribers.

The Los Angeles Times, which runs the Southern California facility, says the computer virus infected systems that are associated with the printing process.

Spokeswoman Hillary Manning says the paper has been working to fix the issues but added that Sunday deliveries may be affected as well.

Tribune Publishing, which owns the Chicago Tribune, was also impacted by the malware, with the South Florida Sun Sentinel, for example, unable to produce its paper in time for Saturday delivery.

The print edition of the Chicago Tribune was published Saturday without paid death notices.
