DOL­PHINS IN­TER­VIEW ALLEN FOR HEAD COACH­ING JOB

Saints de­fen­sive co­or­di­na­tor Den­nis Allen is the third can­di­date to in­ter­view for the Dol­phins’ coach­ing job.

He met Satur­day with the Dol­phins, who ear­lier in­ter­viewed Pa­tri­ots lineback­ers coach Brian Flores and Chiefs of­fen­sive co­or­di­na­tor Eric Bie­niemy. Mi­ami is seek­ing a re­place­ment for Adam Gase, fired Mon­day af­ter three sea­sons.

Allen went 8-28 as head coach of the Raiders be­fore he was fired four games into the 2014 sea­son. Since he joined the Saints, they’ve risen from 31st in yards al­lowed in 2015 to 14th this sea­son.

Jets: The Jets in­ter­viewed former Pack­ers coach Mike McCarthy for their head coach­ing job. Since fir­ing Todd Bowles last Sun­day, the Jets have also met with Chiefs of­fen­sive co­or­di­na­tor Eric Bie­niemy and former Dol­phins coach Adam Gase.

Bron­cos: John El­way flew to Bos­ton to in­ter­view Pa­tri­ots lineback­ers coach and de­fen­sive play caller Brian Flores about the Bron­cos’ head coach­ing va­cancy. Flores, 37, has also in­ter­viewed with the Pack­ers, Dol­phins and Browns. Flores, who played line­backer at Bos­ton Col­lege, broke into the NFL in the Pa­tri­ots’ scout­ing depart­ment in 2004 and moved onto Bill Belichick’s coach­ing staff in 2008.

Browns: The Browns in­ter­viewed Brian Flores for their head coach open­ing. Flores met with gen­eral man­ager John Dorsey and other mem­bers of Cleve­land’s search group. The Pa­tri­ots as­sis­tant is also a can­di­date in Den­ver, Mi­ami and Green Bay.

Fines: 49ers safety An­tone Exum Jr. was fined 53,482 by the NFL for his hit on Rams wide re­ceiver Robert Woods last Sun­day. Exum was pe­nal­ized for un­nec­es­sary rough­ness on the play in which he hit Woods in his mid­sec­tion in the third quar­ter of the 49ers’ 48-32 loss while break­ing up a deep pass.

Mi­ami’s Kiko Alonso and Robert Quinn were docked $10,026 for un­nec­es­sary rough­ness, and Buf­falo’s Jor­dan Mills was fined $13,369 for un­sports­man­like con­duct af­ter they were all ejected for their roles in a skir­mish be­tween the teams last Sun­day.

With Bills quar­ter­back Josh Allen al­ready slid­ing in the third quar­ter of Buf­falo’s 42-17 win, Alonso dived in front of him and kicked the quar­ter­back in the hel­met. A scuf­fle broke out amid a group of play­ers, and Quinn ran in and dived atop the pile.
