Marian L. (Conran) Hauck

-

Marian Louise Conran Hauck was born on August 28, 1923, in Hillside,

NJ and passed away at Moravian Hall Square, Nazareth, PA on October 21, 2018. Marian graduated from Douglass College, Rutgers University in

1945 with a BS in Home Economics. She married John G. Hauck, a high school classmate, on November 5, 1949. They resided in New Vernon/ Harding Twp. NJ from

1966 until 2002 when they moved to Nazareth, PA.

They were inseparable until John's death on April 25, 2018. Marian and John are reunited again, along with Marian's siblings who preceded her in death; Agnes and Fred Conran, and Evelyn Purdy. She is survived by her children Kathryn Hauck of Bath, PA, John Hauck and companion Brenda Aldi of Blairstown, NJ, Barbara Hauck and companion Carl Kielblock of Manayunk, PA, Lisa Hauck and husband Paul Borkovich of Los Angeles, four grandchildren Emily and Daniel Hauck, George and Nicholas Borkovich, and numerous extended family members. Mom's life could best be described by one word: Devotion. Devotion to her Roman Catholic faith, devotion to her husband John, devotion to her children and grandchildren. She was dad's unofficial business partner in the early days of his fledgling business; typing invoices on a manual typewriter in the home office after dinner each night, or after quelling the kids' background noise, answering the home business phone with her soft professional voice, “Good morning, Associated Water Conditioners, may I help you?” Marian accommodated John's love for no-frills travel, although seeing the USA in a trailer/motorhome probably wasn't Mom's first choice for a vacation. She instilled in her children her love of books and reading, the importance of good nutrition and a balanced breakfast, and table manners (“elbows off the table”). Marian was proud of her four-year college degree and her Irish heritage. She was a Brownie leader, library volunteer, Halloween costume maker, secretary, devoted crossword puzzle enthusiast, and outstanding cheesecake maker. She survived the Great Depression, miscarriages, the death of a newborn son, a traumatic brain Injury in her 80's, and the antics of her four children. She lived a long, full life filled with humor despite life's challenges. The values she taught her children are her living legacy. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. The family would like to acknowledge the Moravian Hall Square staff and caregiver Maria Frank for their loving care. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2018, at 10:30 am in Church of Christ the King, 9 Millbrook Road, New Vernon, NJ 07976, followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 225 Ridgedale Avenue, East Hanover, NJ. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Joseph F. Reichel Funeral Home Inc, Nazareth. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mother Theresa's religious order, the Missionaries of Charity, 168 Sussex Avenue, Newark, NJ, 07103, (973)4830165.
