Tamaqua school gun policy under fire

-

About 100 parents and students packed the Tamaqua Area School Board meeting Wednesday to question a district policy approved in September that would allow teachers and other staff to carry guns. Most of those speaking at the meeting said they were concerned that the policy proceeded without much input or commitment from the faculty. The board said it would consider the alternatives offered at the meeting to improve security.

What’s next? The district will train staff interested in being armed.
