Nicholas Avallone
Avallone of St. Luke’s Orthopedic Care has been named an outstanding New Jersey physician for 2018 by Castle Connolly Medical Limited. This is the fourth straight year his fellow New Jersey physicians have voted for him as a Top Doctor in the state for orthopedic surgery.
Each year, Castle Connolly surveys New Jersey physicians, asking them which of their colleagues they would send their families to for specialty care. Responding physicians once again chose Avallone in the orthopedic surgery specialty under the sports medicine sub-specialty. Avallone has been with St. Luke’s for six years and at the Warren Campus for 11 years. He practices at St. Luke’s Orthopedic Care, which has offices in Clinton and Phillipsburg, N.J., and also at St. Luke’s Warren Campus.
The team physician for several high schools and colleges in New Jersey, Avallone also serves as medical director of sports medicine at St. Luke’s Warren Campus and clinical assistant professor of orthopedic surgery at the Temple School of Medicine.
Avallone specializes in arthroscopy of the shoulder and knee; rotator cuff repair/ACL reconstruction; hand, wrist, elbow and ankle ligament repairs; and reverse total shoulder replacement. He is board-certified in orthopedic surgery and orthopedic sports medicine.
Avallone, who graduated magna cum laude from Princeton University, earned his medical degree from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He did his residency at Harvard, and served as administrative chief resident at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Avallone then completed a fellowship in sports medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. offers support groups and education courses for individuals living with mental illness and their family members.
