Army 31, Lafayette 13

-

WEST POINT, N.Y. — Army West Point’s two longest drives on Saturday — one of 10 minutes, 19 seconds and one of 9:33 — accounted for just three points, but the Cadets used their ground assault to pile up 313 of their 408 yards en route to a 31-13 victory over Lafayette in Army’s Michie Stadium.

Army won for the 18th straight time in the series, and senior Andy Davidson of Emmaus set up two of the Black Knights’ touchdowns — one on a 13-yard run that put the ball on the Lafayette 2-yard line and the other when he blocked a Jacob Bissell punt and recovered the ball on the Leopards’ 1.

Army ran its current winning streak to six games and set the stage for another Patriot League opponent, unbeaten Colgate, next week in West Point. Lafayette fell to 3-7 for the season and closes out next week with the 154th meeting with arch-rival Lehigh.

Kicker Jeffrey Kordenbrock accounted for six Leopards’ points, booting a 42-yard field goal in the first period to tie the game at 3-3 and then hitting from 43 yards on the final play of the first half to make it 17-6.
