“Our team has been involved in The Morning Call’s career fairs for many years. It’s the perfect environment to meet up with job seekers looking to re-train for a new career,” says Molly Brown, Senior Director of Marketing at the Muhlenberg Wescoe School of Continuing Education. “We enjoy being part of this local effort to help displaced or underemployed people move in a positive direction. The Wescoe School is eager to help in this way and the Career Fair is often the first step in a life-changing process for many who attend.”

“We continue to attend the Morning Call career fairs because of the huge success that we always have there,” says Ashlee Baker, Traffic Plan recruiter for the state of Pennsylvania.

The Lehigh Valley’s unemployment rate, as reported in October, was at 4.5 percent, with an estimated 18,000+ people in the region out of work. The biggest gains month to month this past summer were in transportation, warehousing and wholesale trade, which the state said continued to set records. The government recorded 30,700 jobs in the sector in August, which was up 500 from July. Transportation and warehousing is the Valley’s second-fastest growing sector behind manufacturing. As is customary, seasonal employment is expected to pick up nationwide beginning this month and will bring additional jobs to the region until the new year.

According to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics, which updated (September 2018) data on November 2, Education and Health Services have continued to employ the greatest number of people across all job sectors in the Valley.
