Time to talk Whoopi Actress/comedian/talk show host says she’s tired of talking Trump and ‘The View,’ so Sands show will be about her
DETAILS
Political talk seems never-ending on “The View,” the daytime talk show Whoopi Goldberg has headed since 2007, and comments about President Trump have put her in recent headlines. Goldberg says politics is on the verge of becoming the only thing people talk about.
So when Goldberg decided she wanted to go out on the road and perform in theaters, she decided to leave the political opinions, and even “The View,” outside.
That will be the case when she comes to perform at Sands Bethlehem Event Center on Nov. 17.
“It’s just me talking to people about me,” Goldberg says with a laugh in a call from New York. “I don’t do politics, because I do that all day long, and I’m not interested in that. I’m more interested in talking about me.”
In fact, Goldberg has prohibited questions about politics, Trump and “The View” as a condition of the interview.
That may surprise people familiar with Goldberg. The actress/comedian/author, who turns 63 on Tuesday, has long been outspoken about politics.
Nearly 15 years ago, an off-color statement about President George W. Bush got her dropped from a SlimFast advertising campaign.
When Goldberg joined “The View,” in 2007, she often mediated heated disagreements between others. But lately, she has been more at the forefront of the fray. In July, Goldberg got into a shouting match on “The View” with Fox News’ Judge Jeanine Pirro — it reportedly escalated off-screen — over Pirro’s claims of violence committed by illegal immigrants.
