No. 12 Kansas State remains unbeaten, beats Lehigh 77-58
Dean Wade scored 14 of his 18 points in the second half and Barry Brown added 16 as No. 12 Kansas State beat Lehigh 77-58 on Saturday in Manhattan Kan.
The Wildcats (6-0) controlled the second half after the Mountain Hawks (4-2) hung around and trailed by just two at halftime.
The Wildcats’ shooting woes at home continued: They made just 6 of 20 3-point attempts.
Lehigh’s sophomore big man James Karnik netted a team-high 15 points and pulled down eight rebounds.
Karnik added a pair of assists and shot an efficient 6 of 7 from the floor in 30 minutes, while Pat Andree scored 12 points on 4 of 7 from 3-point range and grabbed four rebounds.
Junior guard Jordan Cohen played a team-high 34 minutes and netted 11 points along with eight assists and three rounds for the Mountain Hawks, who saw their three-game winning streak come to an end.
Buffalo stays perfect: CJ Massinburg scored 21 points and No. 22 Buffalo overcame a slow start to beat Marist 76-49 in Amherst, N.Y.
Buffalo is 5-0 for the first time since 1986-87, when it was a Division III program.
Buffalo averaged more than 88 points over its first four wins, and only Villanova scored in the 80s more times last season. The Bulls matched a school record for points in a Division I game in Wednesday’s 110-71 win over Dartmouth.
“We knew they were going to try to slow it down,” coach Nate Oats said. “Everybody does it. Nobody wants to try to run with us, so everybody is going to try to run as much clock as they can.
