Scooter rider hurt when car, truck hit him in city

A man riding a motorized scooter in traffic on Hanover Avenue was seriously injured after being hit by a car and a U.S. Postal Service truck Friday, according to Allentown police.

Police said the man, whose name was not released, was riding the scooter in the 500 block of Hanover Avenue when he was hit by the car about 6 p.m. Police say the impact sent the man further into traffic, where he was hit by the truck.

The man was transported to a hospital by Allentown EMS.

No charges have been filed in the crash, which the Allentown crash reconstruction team is investigating.
