The Morning Call (Sunday)

Partisan politics starting already?

-

The election is over and a few of the winning candidates have been mustered in. U.S. Rep. Susan Wild had her swearing-in ceremony Tuesday.

The Morning Call article quoted Elena Kowalski, a precinct committee person from Bethlehem, as saying she hopes that Wild “fights everything from this administration.”

Now isn’t this a fine kettle of fish? Here is a freshman congresswoman, and one of her supporters is already calling on her to fight everything submitted by the administration.

What happened to reaching across the aisle? If all of the new representatives feel this way, then the next two years will be nothing more than one failed opportunity after another. In short, nothing will get done and the voters will be left holding the bag.

And if that isn’t enough, we may have to put up with another two years of the Wicked Witch of the West (Nancy Pelosi).

What a sorry state of affairs. Politics of any kind stinks to high heaven.
