LCCC STREET ART SHOWCASE

-

Lehigh Carbon Community College is accepting entries for a street art project at its Donley Center at 718 Hamilton St., Allentown. The installation will express individual visions of five artists or artist groups, each producing one of five side-by-side panels on the building's “Wall on Hall” Street.

Artists can work with schools, community organizations and other groups to help them express how they see the community, representing the theme of diversity, equity and inclusion while reflecting the ongoing transformation of the City of Allentown.

This is a public art project sponsored by LCCC and funded in part by a Pa. Partner in the Arts grant through the Pa. Council on the Arts and Lehigh Valley Arts Council.

Submissions must include the following:

• A resume or short biography. • Five digital examples of your work that give a sense of your skill and approach to the project. Include at least one detailed composition of the concept for this project.

• A brief description of the proposed mural and how you would use this platform to exemplify diversity and unity within a community (500-word limit).

• A brief description of your approach to planning and execution of the mural (500 word limit).

Deadline for proposals is midnight Jan. 11. Proposals should be submitted to LCCC.edu/wallonhall.

A committee will choose 10 artists, who will then provide their mural designs on a smaller scale by the end of February for exhibition at LCCC's Donley Center. Five artists or teams will be chosen in early April and will receive a stipend of $500 each for materials and supplies. Installation will begin in April, with completion by June 30 and an unveiling in July.
