The Morning Call (Sunday)

Closing notes

-

I'll finish with a few businesses that have recently closed.

First, painting-party studio Paint & Party on Nov. 30 hosted its last class at 1901 W. Allen St. in Allentown.

Deann Schneck, who has operated the studio for the past two years, will continue to teach paint sessions at multiple locations in and around the Lehigh Valley, according to a post on the business' Facebook page. Info: paintandpartystudios.com.

Second, thanks to Retail Watcher Joshua Daly of Hellertown, I learned that the nearly 4-year-old Vava’s Creperie Cafe held its last day of business on Dec. 16 in the Shoppers Village shopping center at 2362 Catasauqua Road in Bethlehem.

Owner Kathie McGlynn, who named Vava's after her French grandmother, closed the eatery for personal reasons, according to a post on the business' Facebook page.

“It has been our pleasure to serve you and we'll miss seeing everyone but it's time to move on,” McGlynn wrote.

Lastly, several readers have inquired about whether the Papa John’s restaurant on Lehigh Street in Allentown is temporarily closed for renovations or closed permanently after signage was recently removed.

Sorry to disappoint you, pizza fans, but it isn't reopening.

“We can confirm that this franchiseowned location in Allentown, PA, has closed,” a company spokesperson said in a written statement. “We are currently exploring possibilities around new ownership in the neighborhood.”

Two other chains, Rodizio Grill and Tilted Kilt, also closed locations in recent months on Allentown's Lehigh Street, just south of Interstate 78.

Retail Watch keeps track of new stores, restaurants and banks in the Lehigh Valley. Contact Ryan Kneller at 610-820-6597 or retailwatch@mcall.com. Retail Watch appears every Sunday.
