LCCC offers career training programs
Lehigh Carbon Community College offers short-term programs in a wide range of health care career skills. Classes are held at LCCC campuses in Allentown and Tamaqua.
Free health care information sessions on those programs are available. Preregistration is required by calling 610-799-1669. Dates and times are as follows: 5 p.m. Jan. 24, March 21 or May 9; 9 a.m. Feb. 13, April 10 or June 5.
EKG technician and CPR training will be held 6-9 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, Jan. 21-March 6 at the Donley Center, 718 W. Hamilton St., Allentown. Fee is $1,041. Call 610-7991669 for information.
Nurse aide orientation sessions are offered at no cost to individuals but are required before enrolling in the training program. Orientations are offered at 5 p.m. Jan. 22 and May 7, or at 1 p.m. March 19 and June 25, all at LCCC’s Donley Center, 718 W. Hamilton St., Allentown. The medical office administrator program teaches medical office computer programs, data entry, medical terminology, medical office procedures and professional communications. Class will be held 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Jan. 23 through May 8 at the Donley Center, 718 W. Hamilton St., Allentown. Cost is $1,196; text is included.
A community health worker course will be held Mondays and Wednesdays 5:45-9:15 p.m. March 11-June 19 at the Tamaqua campus, 234 High St. The course helps prepare students to become a liaison between health care agencies and communities. Learn to provide guidance, social assistance, health education, advocacy, referral and follow-up services, as well as promote health within the community. Course fee is $1,300. Orientation sessions will be held at 11 a.m. or 4:30 p.m. Jan. 30, Feb. 13 and 19.
