Trump, a CEO, can’t keep business of government open
When I think of the U.S. government shutdown, I see a snobby, unruly CEO named Donald Trump strategically committed to building a wall as a way to distract the general public from greater national issues.
On the other hand, if there is indeed a CEO named Donald Trump, then what remains shut down is essentially an organization of professionals whose primary business is to … . Wait a minute, the government can be shut down? Again?
I relish in the idea that whether the government is shut down is not the point. Neither is it that a wall may be built in the most unethical manner, nor is it that someone isn’t getting paid on time. I might even suggest: Don’t think about what this shutdown means, but simply take a good look at it. Look: The American people are responsible enough to regulate themselves.
So long as we make this occasion very clear to ourselves and reference it most of all when the feats become more politically foolish and more socio-economically destructive, President Trump has singlehandedly and empirically demonstrated to the world that he can’t even keep the U.S. government open. Never mind upholding the illusion of a president.
