Thomas E. “Nic Nac”

Oblas, 66, of Mahanoy

City, PA, passed away Satur­day, Jan­uary 12th, while in the com­pany of fam­ily mem­bers, at the home of his niece Carla Oblas.

Thomas was born in Tren­ton, PA on Oc­to­ber

20, 1952, a son of the late Agnes (McLaugh­lin) and Joseph Oblas.

Grad­u­ate of Mahanoy Area High School class of 1970. Tom was a mem­ber of Saint Teresa of Cal­cutta Parish and the for­mer St. Can­i­cus Church Mahanoy City, PA 17948.

He worked for Mahanoy City Bor­ough and later the Penn­syl­va­nia Dept of Trans­porta­tion.

Tom was a proud mem­ber and cur­rently served as Fi­nan­cial Sec­re­tary of the "Dutchies" Good Amer­i­can Fire Com­pany Mahanoy City since 1972. He was a coach for Track and Field, Midget Foot­ball and Wrestling. He was a PIAA Wrestling Of­fi­cial for 37 years. He served on Mahanoy City Bor­ough Coun­cil for 16 years and served as Coun­cil Pres­i­dent for 7 years.

Tom is sur­vived by a sis­ter, Su­san, wife of Scott El­liott, of Al­len­town, three brothers, Wil­liam, hus­band of

Sally, of Hamil­ton VA; Michael, hus­band of Lynn, of Al­len­town; Ed­ward, of Bowie MD; nieces and neph­ews. He is pre­ceded in death by a brother Joseph.

A Mass of Chris­tian Burial will be cel­e­brated at Saint Teresa of Cal­cutta Parish, Mahanoy City, PA, at 11 AM on Thurs­day, Jan­uary 17th, with Rev. Kevin P. Gal­lagher of­fi­ci­at­ing.

Friends may call Wed­nes­day 6 to 9 PM and Thurs­day 8:30 to 10:30 AM at the Good Amer­i­can Hose Co. #3 738 E Mahanoy St, Mahanoy City.

In­ter­ment will fol­low at Skyview Me­mo­rial Park Ta­maqua, PA.
