LCCC offering training for pharmacy technicians
Lehigh Carbon Community College is offering a comprehensive pharmacy technician course at two of its sites. Learn basic pharmacy terms, prescription reading, medical terminology, drug delivery systems, intravenous therapy and aseptic technician preparation, chemotherapy awareness, dose, calculations, dosage forms, pharmacy law and inventory control, as well as clean room protocols, operational theory and regulatory compliance, while preparing for PTCB exam/certification.
A daytime class will be held from 8-11 a.m., Feb. 12 through June 6, at LCCC’s Allentown campus, 718 W. Hamilton St. An evening course will be held from 5:30-8:30 p.m., Feb. 12 through June 11 at the main campus, 4525 Education Park Drive, Schnecksville. The fee is $1,799. Text is included.

COMMUNITY BIKE WORKS, Allentown, needs volunteers to teach the class in its Earn-a-Bike program. This program teaches students ages 9-17 basic bike mechanics and safety over a 12-week course. Mentors aid students as they fix their bike and learn communication and teamwork skills. Upon completion of the course, students earn their refurbished bike and a new helmet. GREATER VALLEY YMCA, Easton, The Forks YMCA Education Center has a classroom that needs repainting. SECOND HARVEST needs volunteers for its Cooking Matters Program, a six-week cooking and nutrition educational course, offered to low-income families at sites in Allentown and Bethlehem. Volunteer commitment is three hours per week for six consecutive weeks. Volunteers go through a two-hour online training and a one-hour in-person training.
