Moravian College announces plans to schedule scrimmages
In the wake of fall sports postponements for both the Landmark and Centennial conferences, Moravian College has found a creative way to handle that void.
The Bethlehem college announced Friday a plan to work with other schools to schedule scrimmages for teams and players interested in competing in their respective sports.
“We’re disappointed for all of our student athletes, their families and the coaches of our Greyhound athletic teams; this is just one more thing that has been disrupted by the pandemic,” Moravian president Bryon Grigsby said in a statement. “We’re confident that with proper planning and communication with other schools our student athletes can have the opportunity to enjoy some healthy competition in the sports they love.”
The Landmark Conference executive board voted unanimously on Friday to postpone all fall sports and intends to play fall sports in the spring of 2021. The conference will provide an update regarding winter and spring sports on Oct. 15.
The Centennial Conference, in which the Greyhounds compete in football, announced fall postponements earlier this month, and will re-evaluate the situation at the end of September.
