Fewer than 900 new virus cases reported

The state Health Department reported 888 new cases of the coronaviru­s on Saturday.

To date, there have been 112,936 infections statewide since the start of the pandemic.

Here are more details from the daily update.

Deaths

Overall: 15 new deaths, compared to 13 the day before. That brings the total to 7,204.

Senior care: 19,558 long-term care residents have been infected with the virus and 4,906 have died from it.

Hospitaliz­ations

The state reported 522 people hospitaliz­ed around noon, with 89 people on ventilator­s. On Friday, there were 756 hospitaliz­ed, with 104 on ventilator­s.

Testing

There were 15,434 new tests, for a positive test rate of 5.6%, the same as the day before. The overall positive test rate is now at 8.9%.

Lehigh Valley

Cases: 34 new cases (18 in Lehigh County, 16 in Northampto­n County), compared to 26 the day before. That brings the total to 8,671.

Deaths: one new death, in Lehigh County. That brings the total in Lehigh and Northampto­n counties to 625 (335 in Lehigh and 290 in Northampto­n).
