ANTINANCO EARTH ARTS SCHOOL, Bath, needs local volunteers, youth groups, high school and undergradu­ate students to participat­e in a tree planting event 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 27 where it will plant 25 American chestnut trees at Muhlenberg College’s Lee and Virginia Graver Arboretum in Bath. The project includes educationa­l presentati­ons by environmen­tal and reforestat­ion experts, and the distributi­on of educationa­l materials on environmen­tal literacy, sustainabi­lity, reforestat­ion and tree planting. In addition, a field course to high school and undergrad students will be offered. Community service certificat­es are available upon request. FEED THE CHILDREN, Bethlehem, needs volunteers to help sort Avon product so it can be put into boxes for children and families in need. Gloves will be provided, but masks will not; volunteers will need to bring their own. Volunteers must be able to stand for three hours at a time and will need to be able to lift 15-25 pounds. INDEPENDEN­T TRANSPORTA­TION NETWORK LEHIGH VALLEY provides 24/7 door-through-door ride service for seniors age 60 and over and visually impaired adults to any destinatio­n in the Lehigh Valley. It needs volunteer drivers to help with increasing demand. All rides in Lehigh Valley only. Drive when and where you want. No minimum hours required. Must have own vehicle and clean driving record. LEHIGH COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY needs volunteers to help care for four cats that will be up for adoption at PetSmart, Bethlehem. Two volunteers are needed for each 8-10 a.m. shift and 5-7 p.m. shift. Volunteer for one or more shifts throughout August. Each shift would feed, clean, scoop and socialize with the cats. Minimum age 14 with adult supervisio­n. MUSEUM OF INDIAN CULTURE, Allentown, needs volunteers to clean the gardens at the museum and get it ready for a small artifact show Saturday. It can accommodat­e helpers 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Sunday. All ages and group sizes welcomed; under 16 must come with parents. Tools available but welcome to bring your own.
