Whitehall-Coplay superintendent to retire Waterfront building moves forward

Lorie Hackett, superintendent of the Whitehall-Coplay School District, will retire at the end of the school year, rounding out a 32-year career in public education, all in the district.

What’snext: Thelast day of her fiveyear contract is June30. Theschoolboard will begin searching for a replacement.

The Allentown Neighborhood Improvement Zone Development Authority board of directors voted to issue up to $70 million in tax-exempt bonds to finance the construction of the first office building at The Waterfront along the Lehigh River in Allentown.

What’s next: The 125,000-squarefoot structure by developers Mark and Zachary Jaindl is expected to be ready by July 2022.
