Fed aid used to balance budget

The General Assembly voted to balance the budget Friday using $1.3 billion in federal money originally earmarked for aid to businesses shut down by the pandemic. Representatives of the restaurant and tavern industry objected, joined by area representatives Sens. Lisa Boscola and Judy Schwank, and Reps. Mike Schlossberg and Peter Schweyer.

What’s next? Gov. Tom Wolf has indicated he will sign the measure, which calls for no tax increase.
